Problem: Press start, piston goes up, no alarms occur, but the analysis does not begin. Explanation of process: When you press the start button the analyzer checks for three things before beginning the test. First it checks for a sample weight, if there is no sample weight you will get an alarm. Second, once the furnace has sealed it checks for gas pressure (o2 for CS units, helium or nitrogen for OH/ON/OHN units), if you have no pressure or if your pressure is below 15 psi(~1 bar) and alarm will pop up. If it passes the first two tests it checks the cell voltages. Each cell will be adjusted to ZERO +/- 0.02 volts depending on your analyzer. Once the computer makes this adjustment; the analysis begins. Solution: Adjust cell voltages. You will need to remove the LEFT side panel and locate the IR CELL BOX. It is a aluminum rectangular box with a single 9 pin connection going into its side. A procedure can be found here IR CELL ADJUSTMENT. After adjusting these voltages, slide the panel closed, replace the connection and allow 15-20 minutes for the cell box to warm up. If you are unable to adjust your cell voltages down to +/- 3 volts you have two choices. 1) Send your entire rack to Alpha Resources for repair. Contact the service department at ken@alpharesources.com or call 269-465-5559 ext. 215 2) Attempt to make the coarse adjustment. This process can be found here: IR COARSE ADJUSTMENT. If you are still unable to adjust the voltages to an acceptable range you can send the entire rack to Alpha for repair or attempt to adjst the IR SOURCES yourself. Explanation of process: Each cell has its own path. At one end of each path is an LED that sits in the center of a small window. At the other end is either a Co2 filter or an So2 filter. If the source has moved away from its window this can dramatically effect the cell voltages. Adjustment of the IR SOURCES should be done very carefully. The process can be found here: IR SOURCE ADJUSTMENT. If after you adjust the IR SOURCE LED's you still can not adjust your cell voltages your cells paths or cell windows are dirty. A cell cleaning process can be found here: CELL CLEANING PROCEDURE If after cleaning you still can not obtain the correct voltages one or more of the following have failed: cell path windows, IR path, IR source, pre-amp, element filter. The complete rack will need to be sent in for repairs. Please contact Ken at 269-465-5559 ext. 215 or email ken@alpharesources.com
